i am trying to time a 89 toyota 4runner and can’t find the timing mark, and which cyclinder needs to be TDC?
A: You should have the TDC position and the distributor both set for number one piston. Make sure that the engine is on the compression stroke for that cylinder, too. The timing mark should be located on the pulley on the front of the crankshaft. There should also be a marker that you can use to set the advance. That marker is notched and should fasten to the block just above the crank pulley.

A: yes hands down there wont be a probem at all from 1979 to 1995 pretty much everything is interchangabe from axles to trannys to water pumps starters and so forth thats the great thing about toyotas!!!

Its become difficult because the previous owner appeared to have cut off the stereo wiring harness from the 4runner and now i cant match the wires to my new stereo. OK, here goes. I have a 1994 Toyota 4runner v6 manual trans that has 2 possibly related problems.
First, my backup lights don’t work. Yes I have replaced the bulbs.
Second, my brake lights don’t work. Yes I have replaced the bulbs and the fuse.
all other lights work as they are supposed to.
Hopefully someone out there will have an easy gizmo fix.

A: If this has a trailer hitch the trailer converter could be bad shorting the lights out.

A: That’s barely broken in for a 4runner, I had an 03 sport, excellent vehicle. Something most people don’t know, the torsen gleason center differential is the best ever put on a 4 wheel drive vehicle.

I’m looking into buying this 1987 Toyota 4runner, it has some rust, has no camper shell on it, does have a roll cage bar instead though. owner says its tires are decent, needs new battery, and sometimes slips out of 4th gear.
