A: It varies a lot from state to state, even city to city. The two vehicles will be similar in price. It would be impossible to guess since we don’t know where you are. Just look in the yellow pages for a broker who deals with state farm, or something like that, to get started. Of course, show around with Geico and Progressive to get the best deal.
I’m more of a Ford guy, but with the F-250’s of that era, I would go with the Chevy. They tend to be more durable. Most of all, avoid the Ford diesel, if the one you’re looking at has one.

Q: How do I remove the gas tanks from a 1997 Ford F-250 HD ?
I removed the 4 bolts on the straps and removed the filler tube but its still hanging up near the hoses.
A: Sounds like everything that needs to be removed has been. When I helped a friend of mine replace his gas tank; we had to pull down and away from the cap to get it to come loose. Im not sure if Fords have the screws by the gas cap (or if that is completely separate. My best advice would be to give another once over, remove the cap if not already removed, and give it a tug. BTW when you look over it again; make sure nothing like a internal fuel pump is holding it. Good luck.

The parts department at my local for dealership said the entire unit must be replaced and will cost $152.00. I found lots of aftermarket LED replacement but i can’t find any stock ones. Any ideas?
A: Most glass shops can cut you a piece of replacement glass, and glue it in with urethane for a reasonable price. Try a local auto glass shop in the yellow pages and see what they will do for you!

A: fun one huh! use a 6in wobbly extension with socket and go behind solenoid once you get the socket on the bolt attach ratchet may need short extension also, that’s the easiest way I’ve found, any parts house will have a manual, and I believe auto-zone will give you a printout of the procedure Have fun!

It is quite possible the glow plug relay may be faulty.
Your problem may also be in the glow plug controller.

well the highest power stroke there is i heard dodge cummins were with the 6.7 liter and i was wondering cause it has a 13000 tow rating which one takes the lead ford or dodge
A: it will never be known. factory tow ratings are about as worthless as worthless gets. my pickup is rated at 14k for towing. however the truck will pull 20k by no means am I saying it’ll pull that 20k up the rockies running 85mph but it’ll pull it. the reason they’re rated at 13k (which is usually what they’re all rated at) is to meet safety specs. they derate that axles, suspension, and what not to meet safety and tire specs so people don’t overload the trucks. it’s their fail safe for a tire blowing out or some bullsh*t like that. also if they rated my truck at it’s true towing capacity well it wouldn’t apply to me because I have a CDL but everybody would have to have a CDL as mak your GCVW can be without a cdl is 24999…might be 25999 I can’t remember if you want to know look up the max GCVW on the International CXT it’s litterally right at the limit because legally you can drive it so they made the gvw capacity right at the limit. so unless we were to get both a powerchoke and a cummapart a square them away and add more and more weight until they couldn’t pull it we’ll never know. the new powerchoke does make more power than the cummins but I believe the cummins holds it’s power longer than the powerstroke but I don’t know I don’t pay attention to powerchokes nore do I pay attention to that worthless 6.7 cummapart.

i added a wiring harness because the rats chewed up the old one due to sitting ,i have everything plugged in,and fuel pump comes on and i pulled the plug wire and its getting fire as well. now im not sure what the problem could be,has new plugs and wires and is set with firing order correct.any ideas ?

wheel cover. I honked the horn now it wont stop blowing. I’ve removed the fuse, would like to fix the horn switch under the cover in the center of the steering wheel. Thank you
A: Get a good repair manual and follow the directions for handling the airbag, like disconnect the battery and stuff, then take off the unit and see what’s wrong.
There are procedures to follow for disarming and reactivating the SRS airbag. Not followed exactly can cause the bag to deploy!
Otherwise take it to a shop you trust to do good work.

A: About 3 or 4 grand for a decent kit with replacement radius arms and traction bars for the rear. You much be planning to at least 38’s, and probably 40’s with that much lift. You *will* need to regear. If you have the 460 or the diesel, you can get away with 5.13s. If you have a 3.51 you’ll want something closer to 5.88’s (5.88’s may or may be available for the front axle you have, which is either a Dana 50 TTB or Dana 60 depending on the year). Depending on your choice of tire, expect to spend about $500 per tire maybe a little more. You will also require new wheels since the stock ones are nowhere near wide enough. Expect to spend around $4k-$5k for the kit, about $1500 to regear, about $2000 -$2500 for tires and another grand for wheels. You’ll also want a rear locker and maybe a front too if your budget allows it.

It’s a 1986 with 52K mi’s It has a 460 engine with the Holly duel throat carburetor. Preferably starting with a cold engine.

A: Your choke cover will have an index mark which you can line up with the corresponding mark on the choke housing – from this initial adjustment, you can fine tune the choke either a notch or two rich or lean depending on how it reacts when cold.
Don’t forget to also set the fast idle speed on the choke cam and check the operation of the choke pull off on initial cold start.
