Are you looking for a 2010 Toyota Tundra?

Q: how do i remove the door panel on a 2005 toyota tundra?
i want to replace the speakers in my 05 toyota tundra and im not sure how to remove the door panel?

A: Alright, I’ve had several cars in my lifetime, son, and I’ve found a trend in most car door panels.
They all have screws that you can noticeable see.
They all have screws that you cannot see, hidden by a cap.
They all have snap on buttons INSIDE the panel.

So, I’ll give you a generalized idea of how to remove A car door panel, however, it might differ for a Toyota Tundra.

Make sure you’ve unplugged the negative cord off of the battery before you do this, for safety reasons.

Start by removing all the visible screws.
Once you’ve done that, follow through with the hidden screws. The caps might be more conspicuous from car to car, but they are usually a square plastic cap that looks like it doesn’t belong with the rest of the shapes of the door. Remove the screws underneath.
Most cars will have screws in very specific areas. Those are:
At the bottom of the panels, usually 3 or 4.
At the door opening latch. (or behind the opening latch).
And at the grip handle.
Once you’ve removed ALL the screws, the door panel should snap off. Do so, but be careful because the panel is still connected to whatever wiring you have (power locks, windows, etc.). Disconnect those, and the panels should come right off.

Reverse the process once you’re done.

Q: Is it hard to install a remote starter kit for my 2005 toyota tundra?
I have a 2005 toyota tundra v6. I was wondering if it was hard to install a remote starter kit. Do you have to bypass the alarm? What are some good brands to look for?? factory or self-installation. Please give me some info. thanks

A: remote start systems and car alarm systems are extremely difficult to install for a novice, especially on vehicles made in the last ten or so years.
not trying to burst your bubble or anything but if you have never installed these types of electronics into a vehicle you should really consider taking the truck to a professional shop.

Q: I have a question for anyone that owns a 2007, or 2008 toyota tundra?
I am strongly considering getting a 2008 toyota tundra, and i was wondering what kind of gas mileage you are getting with the V8 4.7 liter engine, and what you people are getting with the big 5.7 liter engine? If you could tell me your size engine and the mileage in the city, and the highway that would be great!!! Thanks guys and gals!!!

A: The 4.7 and 5.7 get the same mileage,so unless you want less power for the same mileage ill get the 5.7.

Q: Jammed CD on Toyota Tundra 2007, tips to take the cd out?
I have a jammed CD in the navigator screen of my Toyota Tundra 2007, how can I get it out? I ve tried a thousand times to take it out but it didnt work. They got stuck when I tried to put a second CD into the reader. Now the navigator screen won’t even open to take the cd out or put another one in. Please help. Thanks.

A: If its a six disc changer then im afraid to say that you have to take it to the dealer or replace the radio. Unfortunately with multi dic head units if one cd is jammed they are a jammed. Sorry bud

Q: what is gonna be a better truck for 2007, toyota tundra or chevy silverado?
Both of these trucks are being redesigned for2007. Both have more power and both will be able to tow over 10,000 lbs. Which will be better? I’d say the Tundra. Look at the toyota and chevy websites and they will tell you about these tucks.

A: First of all, I dont know Y some of Y’all dissin tha dodge ram cuz its a Boasty van. Second, Altho u say chevy has been buildin vans b4 toyota n mayb dodge, but personally, I think that this silverado is a bag of bull5h1t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let me say that if dodge wuz apart of this, I would say Dodge all the way, but because its only the tundra & Silverado, I would say without a doubt,
TOYOTA TUNDRA of course. I mean come on, this here van has mo features than a silverado (not as muchas a Ram), sure maybe less power in hp, but it power depends on the driver. I recommend highly the Tundra. And The Argument DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Q: What do you think about the Toyota Tundra?
So my husband is really set on purchasing a new 08′ Toyota Tundra and I want to know if it is really worth it before he goes and buys one…

A: All major mags and others have voted top of class. They are the most efficient, powerful, economical roomy trucks in this segment. with 385 hp they get average of 19 MPG. Have highest lift off ground, and most options and aftermarket UPGRADES TAN ANY OTHER TRUCK.. You can get a 5.7 litre crew cab with XSP package and 4wd for 33,000 with rebates and incentives figured in. KBB and all others list prices after checking if that vehicle had rebates at time of purchase and use this as MSRP. Same or closest Ford is almost 50 grand which would be a E250 supercrew with Tirbodiesal engine. all gas engines are no where near the torque of the Tundra-even the V10.or ability to carry 1 1/2 tons and tow 12000 lb’s or get 19 MPG.

Q: What should I put on my Toyota Tundra to up performance?
I just got my first car a ‘06 Toyota Tundra 4.7L V8 D.C. 2wd TRD and I’m looking to put some money into it towards performance (about $500) I was thinking either a new set of JBA headers or a K&N cold air intake either 63 or 77 series any other ideas? Thanks

A: the k&n cold air is really cool, gives it a boost and has a nice sound. I had one in my tacoma and the engine just loved the extra air and it sounded awesome, exhaust is a must also, put some good brakes on it and maybe lower it since its 2wd, it will look sick!!!

Q: What is best the best Exhaust for Toyota Tundra<><>?>?>?>?>?
I have a 2003 Toyota Tundra V6 I want to put an exhaust. What is a good one to put on I see there is a lot of brands, but whats the best for this specific Truck

A: i think i have the same engine in my 2001 taco the 3.4 v6 and i just have a pipe where the muffler use to be it sounds very good with out it but if your going for power try flowmatser my friends have them and are very happy with them

Q: move a 2001 toyota tundra further back in cab?
I am 6′4″ tall male who wants to move the drivers side seat in my 2001 Toyota Tundra about 3 inches back and re-bolt it to the floor?

A: go for it!!! just make sure you know where you’re drilling, with respect to the undercarriage.

be aware, though, that your seat-belt may not be as effective in the OEM location.

Q: Why would people pick a Toyota Tundra over a Chevy Silverado?
I would pick the Chevy Silverado over a Toyota Tundra any day.

A: First of all, the Tundra is a Toyota, and they don’t break down much.

Second, it has better fuel economy.

Q: what car is faster the newest toyota tundra or the newest minicooper?
toyota tundra is a single cab and it has a V8

A: the Tundras 5.7 L v8 is the fastest in a truck today, second would be the Nissan Titan…

minicooper [S] might be fast, but not as fast as the two trucks above…

Q: When is the Toyota Tundra Diesel Coming out?
Ok i’v been waiting to see the toyota tundra diesel come out but when i looked around on the internet it said sometime in 2009 to late 2010 is that true?

A: After all the gas Tundras they produced have accelerated out of control because of they crapply designed ETC systems or rust in half, they’ll begin selling the tundra diesels so they can have a new generation of Toyotas truck ready to accelerate out of control or rust in half

Q: check engine light in a 2002 Toyota Tundra?
The check engine light comes on in my 2002 Toyota Tundra. Checkers auto store had checked it and determined that the O2 sensor or the spark plugs are the cause. Can you help determine which is the right problem?

A: You definitely need a better diagnosis. Spark plugs and O2 sensors would be causing two completely different trouble codes to be set, which is what turns on your check engine light.

It’s more likely to be an oxygen sensor. They’re known to fail, but take the truck to a good technician and get the right diagnosis.

Q: Toyota Tundra: Has anyone used one to pull a horse trailer? Pros and cons? ?
I am considering purchasing a Toyota Tundra truck to pull a horse trailer. I am wondering if anyone has one for this purpose and if they are happy with the results. I would love to hear any pros and cons.

A: How big is the horse trailer? The new generation Tundra that just came out in 2007 is rated to tow 10,800lbs, so you should be well within the weight limits of the truck. These new Tundras haul and tow great so you shouldn’t have a problem with pulling a horse trailer. Especially considering the lengths of some of the travel trailers people are pulling with these trucks.

I’ve pulled my 24′ Car trailer with a dry weight of 2200lbs plus a load of cement mix at 5900lbs. Did that in tow and haul mode without a problem. Truck pulled it like there wasn’t anything behind it.

These trucks with the 5.7L V8 boast 381HP and 401Ft. Lbs. Torque. So you have plenty of power and torque for pulling too.

Q: How much could I get for my 2005 toyota tundra?
I have a red 2005 tundra 2wd limited cab, v6 4.0L engine, with 33,000 miles, with minimal scratches and slight bumper damage. About how much could I sell it for.

A: Go to Kelley Blue Book.com Then you will get answer

Are you looking for a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe?

Q: I have a vibration in my 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe. How do I get rid of it?
The vibration is at it’s worse between 45-55 mph. There is some vibration below, and some above the aforementioned. I have had the tires balanced and the front end aligned. That didn’t seem to help. There is even some vibration when sitting still, car in drive, and foot on brake. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

A: YOU NEED TO DETERMINE IF THE VIBRATION IS POWERTRAIN RELATED AT THE SPEEDS YOU INDICATED. DRIVE THE VEHICLE TILL VIBRATION OCCURS STEADY. PLACE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL(LET ENGINE IDLE). DOES VIBRATION GO AWAY. IF VIBRATION IS GONE THEN PROBLEM IS IN POWERTRAIN. POSSIBLY ENGINE TRANSMISION OR DRIVE SHAFT. IF VIBRATION REMAINS WITH TRANS IN NEUTRAL THEN THE MOST LIKELY CAUSE IS TIRE OR WHEELS. IF TIRE OR WHEEL RELATED, HAVE TIRES AND WHEELS CHECKED FOR RUNOUT(OUT OF ROUND CONDITION) AND HAVE TIRES ROAD FORCE BALANCED(THIS REQUIRES A SPECIAL BALANCING MACHINE(HUNTER GSP9700). BALANCING ALONE WILL NOT FIX TIRE IRREGULARITIES. TIRES MAY ULTIMATELY NEED TO BE REPLACED WITH SOME QUALITY NAME BRAND TIRES. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU FIND ON YOUR ROAD TEST.

Q: How do I reprogram a keyless remote for a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe?
The battrery in my keyless remote went dead and I replaced it now the remote will not work. So what must I do to get the remote clicker to work again?

A: If you installed a new battery its really easy.Point the remote toward the center of the dash.Push and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the remote. This will take up to 15 seconds. When the doors lock and unlock release the buttons. Its that easy. This is called remote resynchronizing and is necessary after all battery changes.Best of luck with your tahoe.

Q: Does anyone know if there is a cargo cover for a 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe?
I have been trying to locate one for weeks. I presume they make them because I have the holes for them to fit into in the back of my car, I just can’t find one. I have looked on ebay and the internet but no luck. Does anyone happen to know of where I could possibly find one? Thank you.

A: You should try your local Chevy parts dept.If this cover is still made they can get you one.If not they will be able to tell you where you might get one.Best of luck with your Tahoe.

Q: How do you fold the middle seat in a 2003 chevrolet tahoe LT?
I’ve looked and tried the instructions in the manual, but I don’t see the little hook the manual says should be there. I don’t know if the seat is broken or what is going. PLZ someone help!

A: there is either a button on the top of the passenger seat on the back or you pul up and out on the back of the bottom seat cushion depending on what trim model you have

Q: I have a 1994 Chevrolet S10 Blazer Tahoe 4×4 with electronic 4×4 button?
I have a 1994 Chevrolet S10 Blazer Tahoe 4×4 with electronic 4×4. When i push the 4wd button to switch to 4wd, the light switches but the 4wd won’t engage until I keep hitting the button to low and high over and over. Electronic and wiring are great. Can you help me with my problem. PLEASE
Could it be anything else??

A: Transfer case control module. I would try pulling the TCCM fuse for a few min. If that dont work you could look at the motor that engages the front hubs. Should be on the back of the front diff.

Q: Do i have factory trailer brakes on a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe z71?
I have a 7 wire female plug on the bumper, but no dash lights or indicators when the trailer is hooked up. It is a 22ft all steel dovetail car hauler with dual axle brakes.

A: No, GM didn’t start putting in factory trailer brakes until the most recent silverado redesign and even then it is still an option separate from the tow package. The 7 wire plug will allow you to keep the same plug with whatever electric brake actuator you choose to install, but if you follow that wire, you will typically find it dead ends part way up the chassis and is tied off, waiting for your brake controller install. Just make sure to stay within the tongue weight and trailer weight limits, probably with a load distributing hitch and sway control due to tahoe’s short wheel base.

Q: I cant start my 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe because the anti-theft system is on. How do I deactivate it?

A: To begin, did you replace the battery in your remote, if you have one? Did you make a PROGRAMMED spare key before this occurred? Your usual key may have been magnetized or damaged. Are you using a non-security copy of your key? If its none of these, then tow it to the Chevy dealer. Or Google the question and see if someone has a work around for you.

Q: My 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe with the bose system sometimes doesn’t produce sound and neither the door chime?
The radio works intermittently. If i start my car and I dont get teh chime, I know the radio wont work. It then will not work the whole time I have my car running. If I hear the door chime when I start my car the radio works fine. Any Help?

A: i think your radio is dead, when is the burial? better return the car to your dealer and let him check out your system if he can resurrect the dead sound sytem

Q: Does Anyone make an outside rear spare tire mount for a 92-99 chevrolet tahoe?
I HAVE BEEN FISHING TO FIND OUT IF THERE IS A SWINGING OUTSIDE REAR SPARE TIRE MOUNT FOR 92-99 CHEVROLET BLAZER/TAHOE MODELS AND I CANT SEEM TO FIND ANY, AND I HAVE SEEN ONE BEFORE BUT I DONT KNOW IF IT WAS CUSTOM OR NOT. DOES ANY BODY KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND ONE?

A: JC Whitney used to sell them but I don’t know if they do anymore. They were so fugly and bulky looking they turned me off immediately. If you want to carry your spare outside, consider tying it to the roof rack.

Q: Gas mileage of a GM Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid?
Can someone who’s driven a Chevy Tahoe Hybrid tell me what their experience is with respect to the real gas mileage of the vehicule?

A: If you drive 55mph with the A/C off, no traffic and one helluva light foot you might get 20mpg. That is how the EPA rates it. GM only really developed it to get environment freaks off there case. One of my friends purchased it and he rarely gets over 20mpg, but it is still better than 16mpg in his old Tahoe…

Q: I have a 98′ Chevrolet Tahoe LT. What are some good things to have done to keep things up on the engine?
i.e. oil change, transmission fluid…so what are some other thing I can do to keep my engine working nice? I have about 160k on it, and I have replaced several parts already, and she’s running fine, I just want to keep it that way.
Re: Frank
How often should I change my spark plugs?

A: keep up with oil changes, no more then 5k on a change. take it to a reputable shop for oil changes, most good ones that are not trying to rip you off will look at stuff while under the car and tell you if anything is needed work or will need work. radiator flushes. rotate and balance tires every 12k. do tune ups at proper intervals with reccomended parts and a good air filter also with that mileage, drive it like a grandma would will only help

Q: How to disconnect the “SPEEDOMETER” on my 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe?
I wanna know how 2 disconnect the speedometer. Not from the transmission but from the back of the instrument cluster… Wich wires do I need 2 cut in order 2 do this? Please help me out. I know that there’s someone out there that can help me….

A: Since you stressed speedometer, then it sounds like your not trying to fudge your mileage (which you cannot do anyway). You will need to get an electrical schematic and see what color wire in the harness on the back of the instrument cluster you need to disconnect. But why?!

FYI, the mileage is stored in the ECU. And you cannot disconnect the pick up in the tranny because it is required for the transmission to operate (know when to shift).

Q: I have a 97 Chevrolet Tahoe that is making a humming noise somewhere under the truck around the bk & fr doors?
Someone told me it was the fuel pump and another person said it was the catilytic convertor. Does anyone know whats causing the noise?
it started about 2 weeks ago and I here it from the drivers side more than the passenger side and yes it does make the noise in idle when I first start it ther’s no noise and as it warms up the noise starts and gradually get louder and louder.

A: I would have to say you are hearing the fuel pump run, very high pitched noise. These models were known for their fuel pumps being noisy. Try changing the filter, if it is cloged the pump has to work harded. It may make noise for a long time and never give any real problems. These are sold as a until with the fuel sending unit and pump installed, pretty pricey item.

Q: Hi, I wanted to know how many of you have or have owned a Chevrolet Tahoe and?
how they are to have as vehicles? As far as how they drive, handle, mechanical problems they may be prone to, etc. I am needing more room as far as vehicle goes because I am expecting my second child and am seriously considering getting a Tahoe, but wanted some feedback from those that have experienced one of them. Thanks.

A: I have had the full size and the s-10 versions of the trucks and had good luck with both of them. The full size had a V-8 in it and didnt really get very good gas mileage. The S-10 version gets better mileage but is a little cramped on the interior for long drives. Either would be a good choice for you though. They are both safe stable and reliable vehicles.

As far as how they handle, they are both good on and off road. They are well balanced and the four wheel drive works great. I had mine all through the woods on trails and never got stuck. Hope I have been helpful.

Q: Will the Chevrolet Tahoe 2008 Hybrid become economical?
By 2008, Chevrolet will reveal a new Tahoe Hybrid. WIll it be more economical? What is your estimate on the gas mileage? Just a wild guess. Can it reach like morea than 12 Kilometers Per Liter if moving at real slow speeds? It has an electric powered engine when there is no need for that much power anyway… What do you think?

A: Will it be more economical? Yes.

Will it be enough to care? I doubt it.

I’d love for GM to prove me wrong, but take a look at a hybrid vehicle that they already make: The Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. The non-hybrid version gets 15 miles per gallon in city driving, and the hybrid gets…

…wait for it…

…16 miles per gallon.

As usual, GM was late to see the direction that the marketplace was heading. As usual, when they realized that they were late, they started telling everyone that hybrids were a short-term fad, and that hydrogen fuel cells were “the future.” As usual, when spreading that misinformation didn’t work, they half-heartedly started development of hybrids themselves.

A pickup that gets 16mpg instead of 15mpg?

Sorry, but I won’t buy the first hybrid Tahoe.

Q: 2000 Toyota tacoma heditates when gas pedal is first pressed?
My toyota tacoma has been heditating when you first press the gas it boggs down a little and then picks back up. It cut off on me twice when trying to go after stopped. Also ive noticed it doesnt have the power it normally does.

Ive cleaned 02 sensors but not replaced and sprayed up in the throttle body and put some seafoam in the gas tank nothin seems to be working any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

A: You failed to provide the engine option for this vehicle- 2.4 L-4, 2.7 L-4,or 3.4L V-6 but will try to help you In general Toyota’s of this vintage have a high failure rate For the MAF (mass air flow) sensor from the symptom that you have it sounds like the MAF is faulty is the MIL illuminated? (check engine light) it would be a good idea to retrieve any codes that are stored in the PCM memory to lead you in the right direction but i am leaning to the MAF but if it has the 2.4 L-4 engine i would lean more to the TPS (throttle position sensor)!

Q: what is the clutch start button or driving pattern selector button on a toyota tacoma?
the owners manual discribes the button as clutch start cancel switch(manual transmission) or driving pattern selctor button (automatic transmission) but doesnt offer any further detail and i cannot locate any additional info on line. i have a 2003 toyota tacoma prerunner v6 manaul transmission. and need to know what the function of the button is?

A: there is a clutch safety switch on the clutch itself that requires you to push in the clutch to start the truck. by pushing the clutch start cancel button, you bypass that switch thus, you don’t need to push in the clutch to start. drive pattern switch will actually change your shift points slightly to accomodate your driving conditions. by putting it in power mode, you get more torque ‘off the line’ and in economy mode, you get lower rpm’s as on the highway. Hope this helps:-)

Q: Water leak from engine in my 2002 Toyota Tacoma 4×4, what could it be from?
I JUST bought my new 2002 Toyota Tacoma 4×4 on Sunday and today (Wednesday) I noticed for the 1st time a tiny water drip from my engine once it was parked. I was running my a/c for the entire drive so could it just be condensation dripping off? Is this anything that i need to get fixed and should be concerned about? Or could it be something else all together? Any advice or ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

A: I would think that it’s just your a/c dripping, they will leak for awhile after you stop. Just to be sure keep your eye on the radiator for awhile to make sure it’s not loosing water.

Q: How much would new suspension/ struts cost on my 1996 toyota tacoma?
i have a 1996 toyota tacoma with 4wd. lately the suspension has been making a creaking sound when i go over speed bumps or pull into my driveway or if i just go up or down any hills. how much would it cost to repair this?

A: i full lift for your truck would cost around 1600 dollars. i know that wasn’t what you ask. shocks usually go around 60 dollars a piece struts are about the same i would not pay more then 400 for what you need done. do some looking around you should be able to find something on sell labor day is right around the corner and there is always sells on holidays.

Q: how much can I talk down the price of new truck toyota tacoma Asking price 32k ?
Specfically I want to buy a 07+ New truck Toyota Tacoma the Asking Price is 32,000 how much do you think I can talk the dealer down on this? anyone have any comparsion to what they got ?

A: Depends on your state’s sales tax – try for $30,000 even out the door because Carmax in Laurel, MD sells loaded Tacomas for $28K and the out the door price would be right under $30K since Carmax does not haggle on price.

Q: 2000 Toyota Tacoma: What is the total capacity of cooling system?
How much coolant do I have to put into the cooling system when change the coolant in my 2000 toyota tacoma? Thanks

A: 10.5 quarts total fluid capacity

5.25 quarts water
5.25 quarts Coolant

50/50 mix

So a gallon of coolant plus a 1 1/4 quarts coolant.

But to be honest, most mechanics are going to put in a gallon and fill the rest with water…

Q: Will i regret switching from a Toyota Tacoma to a Jeep Wrangler?
I am thinking about selling my 1999 Toyota Tacoma 4×4 with 136000 miles for a 2003 Jeep wrangler x with 78000 miles and a 4inch lift and 35″ tires. The toyota has been the best truck ever not a problem since the factory. Im a little scared of selling it b/c its so dependable. Will i regret selling it?

A: People will not ask you to help them move or carry out the trash if you have a Wrangler. You may miss the pickup bed however.

The Toyota’s seem really reliable but we enjoy towing them out of the mud with our Jeeps.

Q: 2005 toyota tacoma 3″ lift does it need to adjust transfer case height?
If I lifted my 2005 Toyota tacoma 4×4 would I need to put a spacer to adjust the height of my transfer case or get a slip yoke eliminator like on my jeep?? I would lift it 3″.

A: No, a 3 intch lift is fine, just watch the front diff, you may have a issue with the CV joints unless you get the kit to dropp the diff.

Q: I need specifications for the timing on a 1997 toyota tacoma 4wheel dive pickup truck where do I look?
I am looking for timing specifications and reinstallment factors for the timing gears, chains, and timing cover for a 1997 toyota tacoma 4wheel drive pickup motor size 3RZFE. Where can I find information pertaining to this?

A: GO TO YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY AND LOOK AT THE CHILTON’S MANUAL THAT COVERS YOUR TOYOTA. IT WILL ALL BE THERE.
MY PERSONAL OPINION IS THAT THE WRECKING YARD WOULD BE THE BEST PLACE FOR ANY TOYOTA. I HAVE OWNED THREE IN MY LIFE AND ALL THREE WERE JUNK. JUST MY OPINION

Q: How Much Did U Pay for your Toyota Tacoma?
Im in the market for a Toyota Tacoma TRD v6.

How much did u pay?

A: 22K For a new one.

Q: Where would be good place to search on the internet for used 4×4 toyota tacoma in Southern California?
I’d like to buy used 4×4 toyota tacoma automatic
low milage, ideally lifted, with camper shell and lockers

I don’t see this type of vehicle advertised in the usual places like craigslist and recycler

Where should I look on the internet

Ideally I’d like to buy one within 120 miles of Los Angeles

A: try:
cars.com or autotrader.com

Q: What are the biggest tires I can put on my Toyota Tacoma 4X4.?
I have a 2005 Toyota Tacoma 4X4. My rims are 14 inches and I would like to put larger tires on my truck. What are the best tires I can buy? I use it mostly for street but sometimes find myself in the snow or mud. In addition, I currently get around 19 miles per gallon. How will these larger tires effect my gas mileage?

A: Hi,

Unfortunately what you mentioned isn’t actually possible. A 2005 Toyota Tacoma CANNOT fit 14 inch wheels. It is physically impossible to get that size of wheel over the brake caliper. Even on the most basic model of 2WD, it was a 15″ tire. 4×4 models almost always came with 16″ wheels.

I would ask that you clarify your actual current tire size – it is most likely a 16″ rim. Beyond that, the largest tire size you can put on the truck depends on if you have the TRD package or not and what you consider actually “fitting”. Some have fit tires as large as 255/85R16 (33×10.5 – tall and skinny) without a lift, but the tires will rub against the frame at full left-right turns. A safe larger size is something in the 31 or 32 inch range. Start looking at a size like 265/75R16 (32″) or 265/70R16 (31″).

For tires, a solid tire for what you have mentioned is the BFG All Terrain T/A. They have a tread pattern that can handle a decent amount of off-road while still maintaining snow/ice on city streets and highway travel. One of the best all-around tires available from my personal experience.

Larger tires will affect your gas mileage. You can expect to loose a 1 or 2 mpg with a larger size. The actual amount depends on your driving and the type of tire you end up choosing. The more agressive the tread, the more resistance there is and the engine has to work harder. A mud tire with large lugs has a lot more resistance then a highway tire.

Another thing to consider is power loss. The larger the diameter of the tire, the slower the engine will run at highway speeds. While this may seem like a good thing, it means that the engine falls out of it’s optimal powerband and the you may have to downshift more on hills. It also means that bigger tires = the truck being slower from a stand still. Fortunately the 2005 Tacoma with V6 engine has a lot of torque and can easily handle one or two inches of tires size increase and the loss of power will be minimal. If you decide to add a lift to the truck and go much bigger, you will find that you will need to regear the differentials to get your power back (not cheap).

Q: Is a front end alignment required after replacing Toyota Tacoma front shocks?
Is a front end alignment required after replacing 1995 Toyota Tacoma front shocks? I noticed that the shock in mounted inside the coil spring.

A: no

Q: Tinting windows on Toyota Tacoma how much is a good price to have it done?
I have a 09 Toyota Tacoma Extended Cab and I want to get the two back door windows tinted and the rear window tinted as well. What is a good price to have this done I want to have this done before summer time

A: $150ish depending on what you get.

Q: What is a good sell $$ for stock Running brds, Toyota Tacoma ‘06?
Looking to sell Stock Running boards on ‘06 Toyota Tacoma SRS, double cab. What would be feasible price for boards in very condition? Also where is best place to place such an ad?

Thanks in advance.

A: I would say about 150$, you could get more, but someone can go out and buy a nice set of aftermarket running boards for 200$. Considering that your’s have previously been on a truck, are stock (not always a selling point), and that running boards are available from just about anywhere for that particular truck, 150$ is a good asking price. You can sell them on craiglist, ebay, or the local classifieds. Wrecking yards and body shops may also be potential buyers to place the part on national locators.

Q: can anybody tell me how to replace the bulbs in my 02 Chevrolet suburban?
(PARK,DAYTME RUNNING AND TURN SIGNAL BULBS)

A: The headlamps come out with 2 pull pins on each lamp assembly. The lower unit for daytime lamps is held in place by a plastic snap clip (the clip is @ the “far outside” end. If you look real close you can see it, if cold use a screwdriver to “snap” out. NO WRENCHES are necessary for this application! Aside from the cold weather comment.
PS- An 03 may be the first year for the set-up I described, If that doesn’t look like the way let me know & I can tell you exactly how to do it!

Q: Can You Buy A Chevrolet Suburban Or Tahoe In Japan Without Importing?
I know cars such as a Hummer for example you would have to import, size related..

A: It is impossible to purchase those automobilis all without importing in Japan. Japan is not a state of USA.

Q: how do i remove the stock cd player of a 95 chevrolet suburban?
chevrolet suburban

cd player removal

A: here you go

http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs/GM/Suburban.html

hope thishelps you out
good luck and hope you like your new stereo

Q: how many miles can a 1990 chevrolet suburban run?
im looking at buying a 1990 chevrolet suburban with 195,000 miles on it, would this be a big mistake, or will this last me for a while,

A: Consumer Reports offers no current information on a 1990 Chevrolet Suburban; however, it does offer information on a 1998 Chevrolet Suburban.

CR accords the 1998 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Much Worse Than Average reliability ratings in the following categories:

Engine Major
Engine Cooling
Transmission Major

And Worse Than Average reliability ratings in the following categories:

Drive System
Electrical System
Climate System
Brakes
Power Equipment.

Furthermore, the 1998 Suburban has not one rating above average in any category.

Consequently, if you were purchasing 1998 Chevrolet Suburban, you should check into the availability of a used engine, a used transmission, a used radiator, a used air conditioner, and numerous other used parts from one or more junk dealers. And then, if you don’t have a mechanic friend, check into the cost of having the old parts removed and the used parts put in. This should give you a pretty good idea as to how much “investing” you should prepare yourself for.

Now, when account is taken of the facts (1) that there has likely been a little improvement in quality from 1990 to 1998 and (2) that an 18-year-old vehicle by General Motors vehicle is likely far more troublesome than a 10-year-old GM vehicle, it seems prudent to assume that a 1990 Chevrolet Suburban would receive a Much Worse Than Average reliability rating in every, or nearly every, category rated by Consumer Reports. So, it would likely be wise to hunt up 2 or 3 1990 Chevrolet Suburbans to ensure that you have a moving vehicle a year hence.

For reference and contrast, the 1998 Toyota Land Cruiser has a Much Better Than Average or Better Than Average rating in every category rated by Consumer Reports. Also, AutoOnInfo.net’s reliability and durability studies suggest that a typical GM vehicle at 7 years of age is about as troublesome to own as a typical Toyota vehicle at 33 years of age. Consequently, a Toyota Land Cruiser from the 1980s may be much more reliable and a much better risk, if you plan to purchase just one vehicle.

Both ConsumerReports.org and AutoOnInfo.net are excellent resources for information on reliability, durability, and other quality measures. With regard to information on older vehicles, AutoOnInfo.net is some better and is currently free.

Q: What, if any are the changes that a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban has vs. the 2007 model.?
They look the same but I cant seem to find the differences.

A: There is basically no difference. The only changes at all are two or three new paint colors and the addition of std. side curtain air bags.

Q: Is a 1995 GMC suburban transmisson compatible with a Chevrolet 1996 suburban. Both/4 wheel drive, automatics.?
We have a 1996 Chevrolet suburban that the transmission went out in. Then we bought a 1995 GMC suburban to get the transmission from. It ran so we just drove that awhile. When we went to swap transmissions we were told they are not compatible because of wiring. Both are 4 wheel drive automatics. We were originally told they can be swapped. Where could this information even be found?

A: Try the auto section of a book store, they usually have books that could answer your question.
My first guess is that they should be compatible with no trouble.

Q: waht is the best transmission fluid for a 2002 2wd chevrolet suburban lt?

A: It’s “Dexron 3″ not “DexTron 3″.
If you are looking for a synthetic Transmission fluid, Amsoil is the best!
Not trying to insult anyone but, as a “GM Tech” & an “ASE Certified” mechanic, you should know it’s what I afore mentioned!
Check out this link:

http://64.207.133.242:8124/products/trans_fluids/index.html#TransmissionFluids

Q: I need to connect wires to a new oxygen sensor in chevrolet 2003 suburban 1500?
I need to connect wires to a new oxygen sensor in chevrolet 2003 suburban 1500?

does anyone know a website that tells me which wire to connect

A: how many wires? 1 or 3? if it’s three then the black wire is a heater and need to be connected tot he black and the white wire is the 02 sensor itself and is connected to the white wire, if the sensor has two white wires and one black then the Connect the two white wires together and hook up the white wire from the harness and black wire will be connected tot he Black on the harness or red wire which is hot, just don’t connect the white wire to any other colored wire. and you can go to http://www.alldata.com to pay to find out, costs $20.00 or ask your local parts store an old timer can tel you.

Q: Power steering failure in chevrolet suburban?
I was drifting in the snow and the car was doing fine. i did one more donut and when i was about to turn left onto a street the steering wheel was incredibaly hard to turn. i didnt hear any weird sounds the wheels just stopped turning. what are the possible problemss with the car?

A: Change the fluid. Just suck out the old and pour in the new. And as far as the brake fluid , I recommend the same at a shop that does “evacuate and fill”. See , thew hydraulic fluid blends real well with water and can ruin the ABS system

Q: how do you remove the headlight assembly for a 2007 chevrolet suburban?

A: I don’t know about the ‘07 Suburban, but Chevrolet seems to be consistent in the way they engineer things, so it may work like my ‘03 S-10 :

1) Open the hood
2) behind the upper cross-member there will be two L-shaped clips behind the headlamp area that simply pull up to release the headlamp assy.
3) Pull the clips up, and remove the headlamp assy
4) reverse the process to re-install – the alignment of the clips will be obvious once you have it out. Headlamps do not require alignment when removed in this manner

Hope this helps… Happy Hunting…!

Q: does a 4×4 chevrolet suburban 1993 has automatic from hubs for mud terrain?
like those that cj5 has a manual hubs engage whuen need it for rought terrain warn hubs.

A: I believe
1500 have auto
2500 have manual

Q: I have a chevrolet suburban and need some assistance with repairing my transmission and clogged converter.?
k1500 4wd 5.7liter V-8, The converter is clogged and I’m thinking about putting a few holes in the top, and my transmission I want to drop the pan change the gasket and filter and put it back.

A: if by converter, you are talking about the torque converter, DO NOT put any holes in it. the best you can do is remove it from the tranny and have it flushed out by a reputable transmission shoop. but in all honesty, you really should replace it. there is no way of knowing if you there is any internal damage to the converter.

if you are talking about the cat converter on the exhaust, don’t punch holes in the top. these create a lot of heat and you could burn through the heat shield. then the floor pan. if you don’t want or can’t replace it then you need to remove it and either install a pipe yourself ( a shop won’t do it) or punch out the ceramic grid that is inside the converterand reinstall the converter.

Q: Can I remove my knock sensor on my 1994 Chevrolet Suburban? I think it effecting my Throttle Position Sensor.?
My truck has a knock and I don’t know if it is my TPS or my Oxygen sensor. But I have been told that my knock sensor may be effecting my throttle position sensor. I just want to know if I can eliminate my Knock sensor all together. My truck has a knock because of my crankshaft and that is where it is located.

A: No. Neither of these sensors will cause a knock. A bad knock sensor will give you a rattle during hard acceleration. None of the other sensors will cause a knock. A knock in normally a mechanical failure, Rod bearing wrist pin or collapsed piston

Q: The transmission in my 1989 chevrolet suburban will not shift out of first…any suggestions?
The title is pretty self explanatory…if you could i would like it if you told me if we need to check anything or something like that. We noticed the problem and went to a nearby gas station and filled it with tranny fluid. Earlier that day the transmission was working just fine.

A: over fill

Q: I have a ‘92 Chevrolet Suburban that doesn’t want to start?
It stalled out in traffic and hasn’t started since. My guess is the fuel pump but I’d like to hear some suggestions. I all of a sudden smell gas by my carburetor…’Preciate the help.

A: that would be a good pace to start, but also make sure its getting fire to the plugs in it,the control modules was bad to go out in those, and it would shut them off instantly ,kind of like yours is doing,if that’s it it wont start back until its been replaced, good luck on it ,hope this helps.

Are you looking for a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD ?

Q: Does the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD have a recall on the speedometer and gas gauge?
My speedometer and gas gauge began to malfunction in Janurary 2010. The speedometer works occassionally. The gas gauge indicator, when the tank is filled, goes all the way straight down towards the floor and when about half of the fuel is used, it occassionally will adjust to the proper setting. The Chevrolet service manager stated concerning the gas gauge that it was not the gauge but was a problem within the tank and would cost a consider amount of money to fix as they would have to remove the tank.

A: HI!

You have NO Cable to operate your Speedometer. it is all electronic ( and i do not mean digital ! ) The Speed Sensor could not be at fault for this type of Problem either!

I have seen this Many Many times in Chevy , Gmc , Buick , Pontiac Etc vehicles. They even will warranty the cluster thru the dealership!!

The Problem lies in the Speedometer Cluster. These Clusters made after 2000 have Stepper Motors to drive ALL the gauges including the SPEEDOMETER ! The Tachometer and Speedometer are the Most prone to failure as they are used the most!

It is best to have the Instrument Cluster Removed and Repaired or Replaced. A junkyard Replacement is ok but make sure you get a guarantee.

I pull at least one cluster a week and repair them for this same sort of problem!

I would charge $160 to repair the cluster plus shipping.

I guarantee my work for 2 years.

I hope this helps Good Luck!

Q: 2500 Chevrolet Silverado or Limited Edition Toyota Tundra?
Which should I get a 2500 Chevrolet Silverado or Limited Edition Toyota Tundra?

A: I would avoid the Tundra altogether for two specific reasons… severe issues of corrosion of the frame and other structural components have become widely reported and with Toyota’s recent problems, the future resale value of the vehicle is likely to continue to depreciate at a rate FAR faster than any other similar truck regardless of the manufacturer.

While I’d certainly opt for a Ford Super Duty as my truck of choice, of the two you mention, I’d decide in favor of the 2500 hands down.

Best of luck. I hope this helps.

Q: are 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 four by four or just a two wheel drive truck or both?
im buying this model truck but dont know if its 4*4 or 2 wheel drive its not listed

A: The 2500 came with either 2WD or 4WD. If there’s a picture, look at the fender behind the rear wheel. If it says 4×4, then there you go. If there’s no sticker, it still could be either. Wherever you’re buying it from, ask the person selling it, they should know.

Q: 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 LT or LS whats the difference?

A: go to kbb.com or edmunds.com for side by side comparisons

Q: im looking for electrical diagnostics for 2002 chevrolet silverado 2500 hd?

A: you didn’t say for what part of the electrical you wanted it for,,its impossible to answer without knowing this..sorry i couldn’t help,,try and be more specific when asking a question so we can under stand what you need to know,,good luck with it.

Q: 93 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 4X4?
4 wheel drive went away slowly, I know there is a solinoid on top of the front differencial, where on top and what am I looking for?

A: on the right side of differential there’s an axle tube that goes to the right side half shaft, the 4wd actuator is on top of that tube, i believe in 93 it is still freon charged so it can go away slowly and when it is cold, just unplug the wire and unscrew, you can update to an electric actuator, but on some models you need to grind the axle tube a little

Q: 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 – Do they have Cabin Filters?

A: yes they do. call a parts supplier and they can get one for you, most of them are easy to replace. your owners manual should explain it.

Q: fuel filling problem and engine light (code po446) on a 2004 Chevrolet silverado 2500 HD?
2004 chevy 2500 hd, has a hard time filling the gas tank. the pump keeps shutting off, like it thinks the tank is full. The engine light was on also. it gave a code for a small evap leak, so I used a smoke tester to find the leak. Nothing. I had changed the fuel tank pressure sensor. I figured that if the sensor was bad it would make it hard to fill and would throw the evap code. The light staid off for 3 days, but the filling problem was still present. Now the light is back on with a po446 code for fuel tank vent performance. I hooked up the computer and watched the data stream, it showed at an idle the purge valve was open and the vent closed. I thought it was supposed to be the other way around. I think the purge valve is bad, but want some input before spending $200
*it has a new cap
It has a new. The filling problem has been happening for some time. We’ve tried many different pumps and stations.
I did say the p0446 was for the vent performance. I checked the hoses when I had the tank partially down to change the pressure sensor.

I also found the TSB for the truck. Thing is when I talked to the Chevy dealer in town they said they haven’t dealt with any problems with hard filling. Their only advise was to try a different pump. Thank you GM!

A: This is a common problem on this model and GM has a Technical Service Bulletin out to fix it.
The vent solenoid and valve can become clogged with dust and dirt and cause them to fail. This is why it’s hard to fill, when you’re putting fuel in there’s nowhere for the air to go.

The T.S.B. # is 02-06-04-037C

For your 2004 model you will need to contact your dealer and ask for update kit part #19152349
And you will also need about 3 feet of bulk 3/4″ hose and 2 hose clamps

The repair is simple, remove the old vent solenoid assy which is simply clipped to the rear of your fuel tank and replace it with the one from the kit. Then use the bulk hose and filter supplied in the kit and route it over the tank and to the evep canister and secure it with tie straps. Then go to whoever read your code and have it cleared.

Note: there are more detailed instructions in the kit.

Best of luck!

Q: how much would a 09 chevrolet silverado HD 2500 weigh?

A: between 5,000 and 6,000 lbs depending on how its configured and options.

take time to drive it over a public scale and weigh it.

my 85 k10 turbo diesel has gotten fatter over time and now weighs 6,000lbs with tanks full and extra tools etc on board.

hope this helps

Q: 2001 Chevrolet Silverado oil consumption?
My family owns a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD with the 6.0 liter Vortec engine. It has 64,000 miles on it with 5W-30 oil. The oil was changed at 60,000 miles and in 4 months it burned 1 and a 1/2 quarts of oil. We also towed a car for about 1,000 miles during that 4 months. Is all this normal or is there a problem? Thanks

A: Yes, it’s very normal for GM V8 cars to burn oil. You find this common in the “LS Series” motors. Ex. LS1, & LS6. You motor being a 6.0 is part of this series. Back in 2001 the Chevy Z06 vette had a major recall with the Z06 motor needing to be “re-ringed” to help reduce that oil consumption. I also recall that many of the 2000 thru 05,06 cadillacs like STS’s have a oil consumption issue, it’s something you need to keep an eye on especially when towing, the motor is working much harder and is consuming more oil.

My 2001 LS6 Z06 burns oil as did my 1997 STS, and my brother 1998 LS1 firebird did. Only cars that didn’t have an issue were our 1994 & 97 LT1 f-bodies.

Q: Chevrolet or Ford – Half-Ton (1500) and 3/4 Ton (2500)?
I’m getting a new truck, so which do you guys prefer out of the two brands of Pickup?

Chevrolet: Silverado__
1500
2500-HD

Ford: F-Series__
F150
F250

A: I, myself personally, am a Dodge 2500 Turbodiesel fan, but it’s not me buying the truck.

Half-ton, I’d go with the Chevy 1500. Both have won numerous awards, but the Chevy is newer, with a much better frame, and the engines alone are the reason to get this truck. More power and torque than Ford’s 5.4L Triton out of the Vortec 6.0L. And Chevy’s engines have Variable Valve Timing, so more power than Ford’s V8, and better fuel economy than Ford’s V8.

However, 3/4-ton, gotta go with a Ford F250, and I beg you to get the new twin-turbodiesel V8. Torque, hauling, and towing are off the chain dude. And you can’t go wrong with that new front end on the F250. SWEET.

Chevy Silverado 1500. Ford F250. Those are my choices. You’ll have to choose based on your daily needs.

Congrats on the purchase.

Q: Chevrolet Silverado and Toyota Tundra Truck Question Please Help?
For the Chevrolet Silverado what is the difference between the 1500, 2500, and the 3500 and which one do you like more? and what kind of truck should I get a Chevrolet or a Toyota Tundra?
Also for the chevrolet Silverado what is the difference between the WT, LT, and the LTZ?
I do not want a ford or any other truck I specifically said Chevrolet and Toyota

A: WT, LT, and LTZ are different trim levels.

WT ( work truck) is the base trim.
LT is a higher trim level.
LTZ is the top trim with leather, power this, power that….

1500 = 1/2 ton
2500 = 3/4 ton
3500 = 1 ton

They tell you the payload.

They originally indicated the maximum payload of the vehicle, however modern pickups can typically carry far more than that.

The Tundra and the Silverado 1500 are excellent 1/2 trucks. I would suggest you drive both. The truck market is more competitive than ever. People tell you “Toyota can’t make a real truck” or “American trucks are made like crap” are fanboys. I’ve driven every truck on the market. They’re all impressive and have tons to offer.

Q: I need tax help to determine the appropriate method of depreciation, What is the wt. of Silvarado Crew 2500?
What is the dry weight of a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD 2 WD Crew Cab? It has a Vortec 6000 gas engine and has an added towing package. The truck bed is 8 ft.

A: Your license application will show that info. For more, see a dealer or call the DMV of the city your in.

Q: 2005 Chevrolet 2500 6.0 bad oil pump common or not?
I have a 05 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD with 50K miles. I had the oil changed on Saturday and this morning while driving to work the oil pressure went down to zero and the engine started making a “knocking” sound. I had it towed back to the place where they changed the oil and the mechanic there told me that he’s 100% sure it’s the oil pump. He also said that this is a common problem for these engines and the at he has replaced quite a bit of them. He told me he would have to replace the oil pump and the lifters. Has anybody had an issue with these oil pumps? Is it a common problem? I would appreciate any feedback thanks.

A: Well im a car dealer and have not see this unless the oil has not been changed like it should have been 3000 miles and sludge build up plugged the screen and pump.

Q: guidelines for exporting American used pickup trucks to Mexico?
Can a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 be exported to Mexico ?
I have been told that if a pick up has 8 lugs it can not be nationalized in Mexico. Thanks for your help.

A: call one of those registration places….look them up in the yellow pages.

Are you looking for a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS?

Q: Will 15″ Subs fit in my Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
I have a Chevy Silverado 1500 2-Door Truck. It’s a 2000 and it has very limited space behind the seat (i.e. there is no backseat) and my question is, I know of plenty of people being able to fit 12″ Subs in there car, but upon building a custom box, would 15″ in subs fit in the back?

A: yes build a three sided box to the sub specs you can only use 1 sub, also liquid nail this enclosure to back of the cab but you also need to put Dyna mat on the cab wall behind the sub i have seen this done in a buddy’s truck and it turned out pretty good all though you can’t hardly remove it because the liquid nail is tuff as hell and you question use only 1 sub well i promise you if it is done right and sized right and it is a good quality sub you won’t be able to sit in it

Q: How do I turn the headlights off and only the parking lights on in a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
I have a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup truck and at night time the automatic headlights turn on. Once they come on, i have no control over my headlights. I can turn the switch to full headlights or just parking lights and nothing happens. In order for me to cut the headlights and just go to parking lights, i have to turn the truck off. Is there a way to set it so that even after the auto headlights take over, i can turn on ONLY the parking lights?
i wanna turn my lights off because we move cars around my driveway when me and my parents come home from work and i need to sit there with my lights off so i dont blind the other cars moving. and i dont wanna be turning my car on and off over and over just to move it.

A: 2 ways i can suggest

one is slightly apply the emergency brake while in park not enough to hold the truck but enough to keep the lights from coming on then pull in gear and move it

another and i am not 110% positive it worked on the 2000 model trucks but does on newer ones is push your dome light button next to your headlight switch that keeps it from on when you open the doors…..you have to cycle the button in then out 4 times so actually you should press it 8 times and there should be a ding and they turn off….however once you cut the car off then back this function is reset so you will have to do it again

Q: how to lubricate the rear axle of a 1994 chevrolet silverado 1500?
the rear end is doing this roaring

A: The banjo should have a plug on it, probably on the top. Just pull that plug (unscrew it) and add the appropriate amount of rear axle lubricant). Make sure you add the proper type of lubricant or you’ll really have a roar – for about a hundred miles, if your’re lucky – then you’ll have a seized rear end!

If there’s no plug, you’ll need to have the dealer do it because the rear end has to be separated, which means you’ll probably need at the very least a new gasket or seal installed as well as the lubricant.

Q: Will the factory radio on an 02′ Chevrolet Cavalier be compatable with an ‘01 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
I am getting a new CD deck installed in my car and wondered if the radio in my Cavalier could be installed into my Dad’s Silverado, since they are around the same year and made by Chevy. His doesn’t have a CD player, and he just discovered that those are things, so…

A: They are definitely not interchangeable, or even the same size. The Cavalier radio works with commands from the vehicle’s data bus system; it won’t work without it. In fact, it won’t even work in another Cavalier of the same year unless you have it reset by a dealer, because it recognizes the original vehicle VIN through the data bus system.

The Silverado didn’t start using a similar radio system until the 2003 model year. There’s no way you’d be able to make the Cavalier radio work in a 2001 truck.

Q: What size rim can i put on 1997 Chevrolet : Silverado 1500?

A: 20″, but you have to have some pretty low-pro tires

Q: On 1994 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Z71 5.7L where is the actuator located on the unit?
i need to find out were the actuator is located because my 4 wheel drive wont go into gear all the way or if anyone else could tell me why it wouldn’t go into gear all the way

A: The linear actuator motor is located on the passenger side front axle tube. You will see the wire harness plugged into the axle housing. These were a bad idea for GM. It probably needs replaced.

There is a cable operated conversion kit that can be installed in place of the actuator. Let me find it. Here it is at LMC Truck Parts. It’s called 4X4 Posi-Lock and it’s about $300.http://www.lmctruck.com/ICATALOG/CD/full.aspx?Page=130

Here’s the factory replacement. It’s about $110 to $170http://www.lmctruck.com/ICATALOG/CD/full.aspx?Page=128

Q: I want a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Pickup ?
Im 15 and I dont know what equipment is good.. Im 15 and I can go ahead and get it for when I turn 16.

http://www.kbb.com/KBB/UsedCars/2007_Chevrolet_Silverado%201500%20Pickup_83567_Retail.aspx

theres the link. can someone please tell me the equipment may be good. Idk what alot of the equipment means. like if I saw it I would…but yeah. helppp

A: good choice, i have a silverado too.
you should get 4×4, z71, with the 5.3 engine, automatic transmission, LTZ trim package, crew or extended cab, the rest is only to suit what you like

don’t get 4×2 because it is useful when you need it and make sure get an ext or crew cab or you will be disappointed

Q: Could someone tell me the RPOs of a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 VIN: 2GCEK13T241365334?
(All of the Options)

Q: GMC Sierra 1500 or Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
i want to buy a new car ….. but i am confused …. i like the external body and ring disign of the sierra …… on the other hand i like the internal featuers of chevy …..
help please …

A: I have always liked the look of the Sierra model a little more than the Silverado model, ESPECIALLY the 2008/2009 model!! And as mentioned in other answers, the reliability, engine, and engineering is near identical…….so in short, buy what you want!! Do you want the better looking exterior or a better internal featured vehicle. It is a hard decision because the engineering is so similar!! Good luck!!

Q: intermittent starting problem chevrolet silverado 1500?
When I try to start the truck it makes doesn’t want to at first n then it does… could it be that it needs a tune-up? The battery is good…

A: i agree w/ above, but i think its a” gettin close to goin’.”..starter motor. now, if it does it when cold, then id check there. if it only turns over hard after the engine is at normal operating temps, look to your timing, ..its too far advanced!

Q: where are the 02 sensors located on a 2000 chevrolet silverado 1500, 4.8 liter?

A: There are probably a total of 4 O2 sensors on your truck. They will be the only thing screwed into the pipes/manifolds and should have 4 wires going to each one.

Q: How much would it cost approx to paint a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado Ext Cab 1500 to another GM color ie Blue?

A: $3000 or $500 if you hire illegals.

Q: chevrolet silverado 1500?
how good of a truck is this?
it will be my first car.
im looking for one in the 90’s
nothing brand new.

how is it on gas?
is it a good first car?
what do i need to know about these trucks?

how about a GMC sierra with extended cab.
in the 90’s

same questions apply.

A: I’m gonna start off saying the GMC will be a little better of a choice because shock wear on a Chevy is a little higher but overall they’re both good. The truck gets around 15mpg but it depends on what motor variant you get. I believe all American made trucks are quality built and will last you a while and is a good first vehicle. Trucks aren’t much different than cars unless you got the diesel then the engine components are different.

(~Buy American~)

Q: Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
can someone tell me all they know about this truck model from the year 2002-2004?
I would appreciate it

Review

I purchased my chevy on base from owning previously a chevy truck A 2000 three quarter ton. My idea was good luck once, good luck twice and was not disappointed. Driving my truck i felt empowered good on the road and safe knowing i was driving a chevy and the way it drove. Problems minimal only wear and tare issues. It seemed when problems come it was never with the engine or transmission just suspension type issues. My truck has run for two lifetimes and was only made, type and model at the end of 2003 for issue on the floor for 2004!!. Mind you me that is something worth.

Favorite Features

four wheel drive, ride when in tough terrain

Suggested Improvements

suspension wear and tare, less sensitivity to tire differences…….

Are you looking for a 2010 GMC Sierra 1500?

Q: My rear brake lights automatically come on when i start my 1996 gmc sierra 1500?
It is a 1996 gmc sierra k1500 with 153k miles. My 2 rear brake lights are always on when i turn on my truck but my 3rd brake light above the cab only comes on when i brake. Also my left turn signal flashes really fast and my right turn signal just lights up in the front. The brake lights go off when i use my turn signals. I have checked all bulbs and fuses. I also checked the flasher unit and the tail light circuit boards. Can anyone help me?

A: or a messed up brake light switch

Q: How many quarts of transmission oil does a 1994 gmc sierra 1500 4×4 with the 4l60e hold??
and also how much for a filter and gasket kit for this trans??I was planning on taking my truck to a shop for the change but i got a buddy that used to be a mechanic to help me….

A: the kit with the filter and gasket is not too much 30-40. all depends on the brand. as far as the fluid buy 5 to 6 quarts BUT when refilling only put in 4 1/2 quarts, shift throught the gears P-R-N-D-2-1 and back up to park. then check the fluid level and top off as needed.

Q: i install a new fuel pump on my 2001 gmc sierra 1500 truck and it wont start?
how do i know if i install everything right?

A: on GM trucks the fuel pump will not operate if the ING. module is bad. ck fuel pump relay also.

Q: What do I need to tune up my 99 GMC Sierra 1500 V8?
When should I change the timing chain?(Its got 130,000 miles on it)
Belts?
What parts should I buy and what tools do I need?

A: Three questions-
1.Spark plugs (AC Del co only)$7.50 each
Air & fuel filters,PCV replaced.Possible oxygen sensor or two or three or four.
Injectors & throttle body cleaned.
2.Yes. Time to change(after 100k)
3.It is over your head(to involved)
It takes a computer to set the timing.

Q: Why has my 1991 GMC Sierra 1500 stopped shifting into 4 wheel drive?
Our truck has had trouble shifting into 4 wheel drive for a while, but just recently it quit entirely. When we bought the truck used, the previous owner said there was a part in the transfer that if replaced, would solve the problem. Does anyone know what part this might be, or another possible solution, with the winter starting up, 4 wheel drive would be very useful here in michigan.

A: Does your manual shift lever go into 4H, and if so does you 4 wheel light come on? if it shifts to 4h but the light doesn’t come on its the actuator in the front diff. I just had mine go out on me last week I have a 1990. The actuator is about $90 from summit or autozone and is a 5 minute fix if you want to start there

Q: How do I remove the interior door panel from a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500?
I am upgrading my audio system in my truck and I want to replace the factory speakers in the door. I just need some instructions as to how to remove the door panel. My truck is basic on the door. No power locks or power windows.

A: Check LMCTruck.com they will give you a detailed exploded view of the door.

Q: How hard is it to replace the heater core on a 1995 GMC Sierra 1500?
It has the regular cab with air conditioning and a 5.7 liter engine.

A: The heater box in that is the same as the 1988-1998 Chevrolet C/K trucks and the repair manual will instruct you to remove the heater box which requires lifting the passenger side dash. But that is unnecessary and is a huge waste of time because the job can be shortcutted. The heater core on that is accessed by removing the bottom cover on heater box and the reason the repair manual instructs to remove the heater box is because removing and replacing a screw on the firewall side of the bottom lid is problematic with the heater box in the vehicle. But removing it with the heater box in the vehicle is doable. It is replacing it when reinstalling the bottom lid which is really tough but most mechanics will not bother to replace it when shortcutting the heater core replacement.

1. Disconnect the heater hoses at the firewall under the hood.

2. Remove the passenger side kick panel and door sill and pull the carpet and padding back. This is necessary not only to avoid spilling coolant on the carpet when removing the heater core but also because the thickness of the carpet and padding closes the gap between the heater box and firewall and obstructs access to the screws on the firewall side of the bottom lid.

3. Remove the 6 screws securing the heater box bottom lid. One screw on the firewall side of the bottom lid is recessed in a well between the heater core inlet and outlet tubes and the other 5 screws are on the lip of the bottom lid, 1 on the front lip, 1 on the right lip, 2 on the left lip, and 1 on the firewall side lip. It is the 1 on the firewall side lip which will be a bear to access but removing it is doable using a shop light and a mirror to see it and that is the 1 which most mechanics will not bother to replace when reinstalling the bottom lid.

4. Remove the bottom lid.

5. Remove the screw and clip which secures the heater core and remove the heater core.

Here are some photos which will help:

Q: How can i make my gmc sierra 1500 go faster?
It is a 315hp and i want it to have more power and go faster without getting a new engine. can i get superchargers or turbo’s for it? what do you think i can do?
it is an 07 model..

A: I own a shop, build race engines, and own a race car & truck. There are many things one can do to make it go faster. I would suggest this site
www.chevyhiperformance.com
and you should be able to fully see all the things you can do to upgrade your engine. Yes you can get a super charger for it, but you are talking a lot of money. I will agree with the headers, exhaust, cold air intake, hotter ignition system, and programer for the computer. You could see as much as 100-150 horsepower increase over stock by just adding these components. One thing about power, we all have a need for speed, and no matter how much power we have, we will always want more. You might consider installing a gear in the rear end, as this will get it going a lot quicker. You would be suprised at what 315 horses will do when you get it all to the ground. If you have an automatic, you could install a mild stall converter, and get into the power band a lot quicker.
Part 2:
My brother has one of these, and he purchased a programer that sits on the dash. He can dial in his power with it. “What a difference”!!! The truck will now lay your @ss in the back seat when he slams the pedal to the floor. He has done nothing more to the truck other than the programer. I am convinced this thing makes all the difference in the world. There is a company called “Procharger” that makes one that will give it all kinds of power. I take a magazine “Chevy High Performance” and in the new up coming December issue (which I just got in the mail) they address this exact issue. An article called “Dyno Freak” shows a low profile Procharger that is making jaw droping numbers on the dyno. You might be able to read the article on their website
www.chevyhiperformance.com
Believe it or not, but I have never seen these kind of numbers from a charger that will fit under the hood. You might want to check this out.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

Q: How do I remove the stock grill emblem on a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 Crewcab Pkup?
I have purchased a chrome GMC emblem to replace the stock emblem but I’m not sure how to remove the old emblem without damaging something

A: check the back side of the grill as you may be able to disconnect there ir drill out.

Q: I just bought a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 pick up and the gas gauge goes nuts?
The gas Gage goes from full to empty, Is there an easy fix for this?

A: Ground wire exterior under the car in front on the fuel tank.

Q: How much would window tint on a gmc sierra 1500 exteneded cab cost?
Please Help!

A: you are looking at around $150 to $200 but it is worth it

Q: i have a 2006 gmc sierra 1500 5.3 am looking to laptop it where do i go to do that? looking for performance?
i have a 2006 gmc sierra 1500 5.3 am looking to laptop it where do i go to do that? looking for performance im in sacramento ca what will it cost? what will i need to buy?

A: You will need a laptop, of course, and a GM tuning suite. I prefer EFI Live, it has countless tables you can modify. Cost is about $800 if you want to do it yourself, or you can find a GM LS (Corvette, Camaro, Firebird/Trans Am) based tuner in your area for around $400 or so.

Q: I have a 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 4×4, I was putting the truck into reverse while in 4 wheel drive and it went out
Reverse just sounds like neutral now in 4 wheel or in 2 wheel. What the heck is going on? I don’t want to get screwed over if I take it in!

Thanks in advance!

Q: 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 v8 that keeps over heating and boiling the water and antifreeze out, how do I fix this?
After a long drive the water in my radiator come back up to the tank where the water all at and over flows it which causes it to all bleed out through a value and leaves me without water. Which then later causes my engine to over heat. How to I stop this?
After a long drive the water in my radiator come back up to the tank where the water all at and over flows it which causes it to all bleed out through a value and leaves me without water. Which then later causes my engine to over heat. How to I stop this? I’ve already flushed the radiator and changed the thermostat I also changed the water bump yet it still flushes water out
I have used antifreeze but it flushes it out continually that its hard to keep buying antifreeze over and over when the engine keeps letting it all overflow out. I only use water because its easier to get access to and it doesn’t cost as much as antifreeze

A: replace the thermostat check for swollen hoses goodluck

Q: How wide and tall is the tailgate on a 99 GMC Sierra 1500 Pickup Truck.?
A friend of mine does Vinyl Graphics, and a customer wants a graphic to cover his entire tailgate on the outside. I need the dimensions in inches for the width and height.

thanks.

A: 19 x 62 with the tailgate guard on top of the gate.
21.5 x 62 without the guard (cap)

Are you looking for a 2010 Ford Ranger?

Q: What good exhaust company makes dual mufflers for a 2003 Ford Ranger?
I got a 2003 ford ranger and i wanna make it dual exhaust but most exhaust systems i find for my truck are only one exhaust. I looked and i only got one muffler. I want to know what company makes one for mine or how do i make it a dual?

A: The closest you’ll get to dual exhaust is dual tips at the rear merging from where the main exhaust pipe runs under the truck on the passenger side. You won’t have a true dual due to the fuel tank being on the inside of the chassis rail. I also have a 2003 Ranger. It’s a 3.0L RWD Edge model. I’d prefer not to make it true dual because these trucks are not fast to begin with (not even a 4.0L) and after a few hundred dollars worth of exhaust mods it still won’t be worth it ( dollar to power gain ratio ). I worked on real dragstrip musclecars and I would only bother with the dual exhaust if the engine saw a significant gain with just dual exhaust alone. These trucks won’t see that. Putting dual exhaust just for looks also screams “poser” (i.e. wanna be fast, but aren’t) to the keen eye.

Q: How do I locate my drain plug on a 2007 ford ranger?
I drive a auto ford ranger and i need to find the drain plug. If you can show image will be a plus.

A: From under the car, about the middle ares, there will be large (about 1 foot by 1 foot) pan with a bolt stuck to it. That is the OIL PAN and the drain plug.

Just make sure that when you put the drain plug back on, don’t over tighten it. It really doesn’t hold anything besides the oil.

Here’s a picture of oil pan and drain plug (not the ford ranger).

Good Luck….

Q: How much can a Ford Ranger carry in the bed?
How much weight is a new standard (XLT) Ford Ranger certified to carry in the bed? How much weight is it certified to tow, with the appropriate hitch?

A: Rangers are half ton trucks, so 1000 pounds.
You can add air bags and increase the weight another 500 pounds.
for towing, if you get a class 3 hitch, you can tow probably 10,000 pounds, but I wouldn’t recommend that much unless its an easy drive. the excess weight isn’t the issue as much as the truck sliding back & forth.
Rangers are tough trucks, it can handle whatever you throw at it.
But if you’re looking for more hauling & towing, you should’ve gotten an F-150 or even F-250

Q: How do I measure the size of my speakers in my ford ranger? And also how to know what wattage to buy?
I want to buy 4 new speakers for my ‘97 ford ranger to get better sound quality, but i don’t know how to measure them to look for new ones. And my stereo system says 50×4 watts….what does this mean?

A: 50 x 4 is a max value for each speaker

the realistic amount of power going to those is more like 20 watts.

you would want to find some speakers with low RMS values(under 50 or so),

and there are many sites to find your speaker sizes.

from crutchfield:

1997 Ford Ranger Pickup

    * Aftermarket Stereo Installed   [change]

Factory replacement info:

In-dash stereo
7-1/2″ depth; Size code E,S,U ; Non-standard dash opening (special integration package required)

Front speakers
Front Door: 6×8″

Far rear speakers
Behind Seat: 6×8″

So you need 6×8s or 5×7s
(normally the same thing, or very close to it)
Assuming I set up your truck right.

here’s the link to the thing I used:

Q: Where can i find a used automatic transmission for a 1998 ford ranger 4×4?
I am looking for a cheap transmission for my 1998 ford ranger 4wd automatic transmission. I need the truck for school and it starts soon! Thanks!!
It is also a 3.0 Liter.

A: car-part.com

Q: What is the length of a short bed and long bed ford ranger pickup?
I am looking for used truck topper canopies. What is the bed length of a Short bed ford ranger and long bed?

A: Short bed is 72.7″ (nominal 6′)
Long bed is 84.6″ (nominal 7′)

craigslist and ebay are your friends on this item.

Good luck!

Q: I have a 2000 ford ranger pick up. How hard is it to put that engine in a 2001 Pontiac sunfire?
The ford ranger is a 5 speed and was totaled in a wreck. The pontiac is automatic. I want to use the transmission and motor from the truck and put it in the sunfire.

A: Don’t listen to those people, they’re clueless. It’ll take a weekend but you can do it. You can use high strength epoxy (JB weld works best), to essentially glue the new motor in (it’s good stuff, no need for bolts here!).
Then you’ll need a drill and some zip ties to hold the rear end in place. I recommend using the drive shaft out of the ranger but you can use a length of PVC pipe too. Good luck!

Q: What is a better transmission to have in a Ford Ranger?
I have been looking for a Ford Ranger for a while and I was wondering if it would be better for me to have an automatic transmission or manual transmission?
I am planning on towing a small trailer and hauling some stuff so it would be like my work truck but also my daily driver
I know how to drive a manual transmission and would like one but I don’t know which transmission would be better for what i want to do
and the Ranger will be a 1999-2003
thx in advance

A: well im a fan of the manual, but either would work just fine for you just dont tow in overdrive

Q: How to check the transmission fluid in a Ford ranger?
I have a 1987 ford ranger with a manual transmission and i cant figure out where to check it at. It doesnt have the black tube like a automatic transmission has to check or add. Any info would help!
Thanks

A: YOU MUST GO UNDER THE TRUCK MY FRIEND. THERE WILL BE A FILL HOLE AND AND A LEVEL HOLE AKA THE PINKY HOLE

Q: How much would I cost to get my Ford Ranger painted orange or red?
I have 1999 ford ranger super cab, I want to get the whole truck painted. About how much would it cost?

A: How good a paint job do you want? Minimum, six cans of Krylon spray paint, about $30. Maaco $250-$500. Factory quality $2500. Show quality $10,000+.

Q: What would cause an 89 Ford Ranger v6 2wd with an A4LD automatic transmission to slip?
What would cause an 89 Ford Ranger v6 2wd with an A4LD automatic transmission to slip slightly from 1st to 2nd, then more rough from 2nd to 3rd? We did a fluid and filter change and changed the modulator valve. It slipped before we did work on it but it doesnt do it as bad now. PLEASE HELP!!!!
There is only 80,000 miles on this transmission

A: You need a transmission service. Sounds like they hydraulics are gummed up.

Q: How to you fix a Ford Ranger bumper that has fallen off by yourself? WIthout taking it to a auto shop?
Its a year ‘98 ford ranger and the bumper fell off..I don’t have money to spend on a repair. I just have to do it by myself…How do you fix it?

A: You should beg, borrow or steal a socket wrench! The large bolts are difficult to get to access with a cresent wrench. U need a good hammer With a little UMPH! to bend back the dog ears (Sliding Parts) and then a block of wood to beat the thing back into place. A little penetrating oil will help everywhere! Get rags to clean every oily thing up. lot of oil with steel work is usually a good thing.. I believe starting in 97 everything has an air bag. I’m not sure where the sensors that detect shock (Impacts) I was told at school these are located right on the bumper (behind it) so look for loose wire!!! When you find them make sure to talk to a pro about putting them back together. Good Luck Ill pray for you

Q: What would cause a 88 ford ranger to stall?
So what could be the causes of a 88′ ford ranger to stall? Its got new fuel pump, oil pump, distributor module. 20 minutes later it’s back in action though. Do you think it could be a heating core or radiator problem?

A: not sure what climate you are in but it could the cold start valve or a vaccum leak. Did you replace the fuel filter when you did the pump?

Q: My 97 Ford Ranger has horrible suspension, is there a cheap “do it yourself” way to improve it?
I drive a 1997 Ford Ranger Splash, the suspension sucks and I want to improve it. I am just a poor high-school student so the budget is tight, is there a cheap way to improve the suspension at all?

A: you won,t find it cheap unless you get the part from the junk yard.

Q: Where can I find a transmission for my 1993 ford ranger?
I am looking for a transmission for my 93 ford ranger. It is a manual trans. 5 speed. I was told there were a couple of different types of transmissions for this model and am not sure which one is right for my truck. If anyone knows someone who is selling one or knows how to get one please let me know. Thank you.

A: Generally the 150 systems work for a ranger. The mechanic
needs to know the torque you use. The readjustment of the
oil decks will show whether the model is very close. There
are silverados that will fit some wont. so on. Used should not
be too far away. Also to use one used keep the gearbox
cool for a month, a whole month, the torque or engine, maybe
the universal can be nockin for a while. Keep loads down to
no supersize, no fries.

Are you looking for a 2011 Subaru Outback?

Q: where can I find performance parts for my 2010 subaru outback?
I just bought a new outback yesterday and I am interested in finding perfomance parts. I have checked many sites and most parts are for the other subaru models. I would like add a little extra to the performance. It has the 2.5 H4 engine

A: You won’t find a lot. Rallitek has some catback’s and I’m sure there are some replacement air filters like K&N. There isn’t really a lot of power to be gained from bolt on parts on your car. The factory cold air intake is pretty good to begin with and a cat back might give another 5 horsepower of so. Some springs like these http://www.perrinperformance.com/products/show/422/Sport-Springs-H-R-08-Impreza-WRX-STI?category=74&model=32 and a set of sway bars like these http://www.perrinperformance.com/products/list?category=8&model=32 will really firm up the ride and be money better spent in my opinion. Also a short shifter and bushings like these http://www2.kartboy.com/x4/product.php?productid=16174&cat=262&bestseller=Y would be real nice too. (I realize it says WRX but they use the same one)

Q: Should I buy a Subaru Outback with 190,000 miles on the odometer?
Hey everyone!

I’m thinking of taking a look at a 1999 Subaru Outback but it has 190,000 miles on the odometer. Should I bother or do you think this is too high and I should just move onto the next one?

Thanks for your help!

A: I would get a full compression and leak down test done to the car, and maybe a full 30+ point inspection from the subie dealer.

Find out if the car has had the water pump or head gaskets replaced or timing belt, and at what mileage. These cars tend to have problems in these areas, and if they are bad, the engine needs to come out to replace them (maybe not timing belt).

190k is early high mileage territory for a subie, but I have a friend with 265k on his odometer. If you take care of these cars, they last forever. Take a look at the subaru high mileage club.

Q: Should I buy a Subaru Outback or Forester?
I am looking for reliability and Subaru keeps coming up big. I am not sure if I should get the Outback or Forester, though. Any thoughts? I would drive a manual; I live in a cold climate, but I wouldn’t be taking it off-road much. Just really looking for something that will almost never see a mechanic. Let me know what you think and thanks!

A: Are you talking about a new car or a used one? I ask because the difference in original price in earlier models was smaller. The 2010 Outback (based on the Legacy platform) has grown significantly; it was always somewhat larger than the Impreza-based Forester.

The cars have identical engines (I wouldn’t recommend the six cylinder; the turbocharged 2.5 litre four performs better.), and you can have reasonable power and decent enough fuel economy with the normally aspirated version of the 2.5 litre or damn good power and decent enough (not that much less, really) fuel economy with the turbo version.

Depending on the engine and trim level, 4 speed automatic, 5 speed automatic, 5 speed manual, 6 speed manual, and continuously variable (CVT) transmissions are possible.

Both of the cars are wonderful in snow and ice on paved roads. Rutted dirt roads and SMALL streams pose no problem for them either. These are not low-range rock climbers, but you’re not planning on that anyway. If you take proper care (Used car has had proper care.) of them, they’re virtually bullet proof.

Do you really need the SUV / station wagon space? You can save money by buying an Impreza, either 4 door, 2 door, or hatch, and have many of the same features to choose from. There’s even an Outback Sport (Impreza based). All of these cars are well-deserving of their super reputations.

Personally, I prefer the Outback. Also, there’s the Legacy sedan …

Q: how do you install thermostat on 1998 subaru outback?
hey guys. i have a 1998 subaru outback and i am replacing the radiator hoses and the thermostat. Just wondering if anybody knows how to actually replace the thermostat and how tight i should tighten the clamps to the hoses.. thanks

A: The thermostat housing is located on the bottom of the water pump. Remove the two retaining bolts, remove the thermostat housing to expose the thermostat.
Hose clamps tightened until firmly snug, but not too much in order to avoid cutting into the hose.

Q: I can’t close the moonroof on my 1998 subaru outback. Does it have a manual override and how do I use it?
98 subaru outback limited
I am talking about the ’sunroof’ that slides backwards and is above the backseat, not the one that pops up over the front seats.

A: most cars with sunroofs have a manual override under the panel that has the switch in it,
my friend had an audi with the same problem, it has a allen key and a hole for it

Q: Is the 2010 Subaru Outback a good car?
I was looking into the 2010 Limited Outback, but was wondering if anyone knew of any other cars. I also want to know your expierence if you have drove or own one. Any other car suggestions are welcome. Even previous owners tell me your expierence with your Subaru.

A: I’ve never personally had an outback, but my next car will be a Forester. My friend had an outback for years. And he absolutely loved it. He was devastated when he had to sell it due to the economy.

Q: Does the Back Sunshade on a 1998 Subaru limited outback wagon open manually?
I have a 1998 subaru outback limited wagon and the back sunroof and sunshade open togeather, however when the sunroof is closed I cant open the sunshade. Is this normal? If not can you fix it?

A: I was sent here from council, a place far away and I came here for one reason. To attack questions and keep coming. Not to ask but just to give. Not to want but just to send, send the power of the Rudy down everybody’s throats at Yahoo Answers until they become sick of it. Well you’re going to get sick of it, Sean. Because this freak of nature right here is just beginning to swell, and when I get big enough brother, there ain’t gonna be room for anybody else but me and all the Rudys floating through the veins, that’s the power of the RUDY!

Q: Is a subaru outback a good first car?
I was wondering, would a subaru outback/subaru in general be a good first car? I live in MN, and i’ll be getting my licesne shortly. (I’m testing in a few days) and I was wondering, would a subaru be a good first car, more specifically the outback? It would be used, obviously. I’ve herad they are safe and they have AWD, which would be nice for winters and such, thanks!

A: great choice especially for snow states, I have worked for Ford, GM, Honda, and Toyota, and the whole time I have driven Subaru’s.

The one thing to watch out for, if you are looking at getting an older or higher millage one, i.e. at least 6-7 yrs old or over 100k miles, try to get one with the 2.2L motor. The 2.5L motors tend to have a problem with the head gaskets when they get older. Or just look for one at a repair shop that has already fixed the head gaskets.

The 2.2L motors were only in the smaller subaru’s, like the legacy until 00 or the impreza until 02 or 03. those ones will run forever. The other ones are still good cars just keep that in mind when they get older they can have the head gasket problem.

Q: ‘97 Subaru Outback Needs Major Repairs: Is it Worth It?
I have a ‘97 Subaru Outback with 136,000 miles on it that has a cracked radiator, bad starter, and a blown head gasket. Repairs have been estimated at $2500+. Is it worth it to get it fixed?

A: Look into the price of a newer version of the car w/less mileage. If buying a new car beats the price, so be it.

Q: Is the 2004 Subaru Outback LL Bean Edition equipped with VDC?
Ok I have read a little online about the Subaru Outback with the H6 and for my model year, I understand that there were two models, the H6 VDC and the LL Bean edition. I also read that the two models were nearly identical, but the article I read did not discuss whether or not the LL Bean edition has the VDC system. Anyone have any info?

A: I bought a 2004 Outback Limited when it was new but I also looked at the LL Bean and VDC. To my knowledge the LL Bean didn’t have VDC. The VDC was the most equipped, most expensive Outback you could buy. Now I think even their cheaper models have VDC.

Q: Is it a good idea to use synthetic oil with a Subaru Outback?
I get my oil changed at a Jiffy Lube type place, and the kid there insists, absolutely insists, that, due to Subaru’s “boxer” piston configuration, it’s best to use synthetic oil. I can’t remember his reasons- something to do with keeping lubrication on the pistons more effectively. Has anyone else heard anything like this?

A: best to use synthetic oil in any motor it doest break down as fast meaning if you replace your oil at 5000 to 8000 miles like most should do that oil wil stil have another 5000 good on it which many synthetic oils good for 10 to 15,000 miles test prove it
manay think you have to change oil at 3000 miles which is wrong that is proven as well just plain oil last 5000 or longer

i change my oil once a year and my car has over 380,000 miles
sure synthetic oils are better than just plain oils

It’s been a misconception for years that engine oil should be changed every 3000 miles, even though most auto manufacturers now recommend oil changes at 5,000, 7,000, or even 10,000 mile intervals under normal driving conditions.

Q: What is the difference between a Subaru Outback and Legacy?
I am buying a car on eBay that I thought was an “Outback” but now I find out it is an “Outback Legacy”. What is the difference?

A: An Outback is a Legacy. Most people refer to it as Outback only and until 2005 Subaru labeled it the Legacy Outback. Some dealers still use that label. An Outback will have a raised suspension and more options than the Legacy. That is your biggest difference. Look for the All Weather Package or Audio package if the car is a 2003 or newer. I can not tell you how many customers have this question I have had to answer before.

Former Subaru Sales Manager

Q: 2006 subaru outback lots water in the carpet of passenger side?
I have 2006 outback limited with climate control and today I dried up the carpet of passenger side with bath towel, it was soaking wet with water (more than half a gallon). Yes I used the AC yesterday while driving in 100+ deg but did not expect a lot of condensation. Is this a sign of AC going bad?

A: Well the hotter it is and the harder you run the A/C, there will be more water. You need to find the leak though. There is a hose that should allow the water to drip under the engine bay, not in the cabin. You will have to do a little investigating and should find a leak somewhere. I have an 06 and it’s been over 100 the last few days but no water on the floor. Just a puddle everywhere I park.

Q: How many miles per gallon does your Subaru Outback or Forrester get highway and city?
Please indicate Outback or Forrester, as well as year of model. Thank you!

A: about 20 mpg city, 25-30 highway. depending on if you like to romp on the gas pedal

Q: can a twin or full size mattress fit into the back of a subaru outback station wagon?
so i’m gonna be doing alotttt of traveling and camping this year and i thought it would be cool to put a mattress in the back of my car. i was wondering if a twin or full size mattress would fit the back of a subaru outback station wagon with the back seats folded down?

A: Twin possibly, but squeezed a bit between the wheel well intrusions. Measure between the wheel well intrusions with the seats down flat to be sure.
Full size, now way, sorry.
For very little money you could get a foam pad several inches thick and trim it to size. It would serve quite well as a mattress and would be much easier to store when not needed.

Are you looking for a 2010 Nissan Frontier?

Q: 99 Nissan Frontier XE wont start after sitting for 2 weeks?
My 1999 Nissan Frontier XE has been sitting in the parking lot for about 2 weeks now on a slight incline unmoved.I went out to start it and it wouldn’t,i don’t think its the battery because the lights, cautions and everything turns on, the engine is turning over but just wont completely start so i don’t think its the starter but i really don’t know.Do you think that it sitting on an incline has anything to do with the problem or not?Any ideas of what it might be?

A: Find your fuel rail where your injectors are. disconnect the line feeking the fuel rail and turn the ignition to the on position. NOT THE START just the on position. if fuel sprays out let me know.

Q: where is the number 2 cylinder bank nissan frontier 2006?
4.0 v6 nissan frontier. I am trying to find the number 2 cylinder bank location. Is it the passenger or driver side. I cannot find a website that shows this information. Thank you.

A: Drivers side is bank #2 Passengers side is bank #1 Clys #1 #3 #5 Clys drivers side #2 #4 #6 Bank one where #1 spark plug is Bank #2 where #2 spark plug is. Good Luck with the P0420 or P0430 cat converter codes or is it a AF sensor code?

Q: What do you guys think of the 2006 Nissan Frontier Nismo Edition?
Im looking to buy a new truck. Im looking at the 2006 Nissan Frontier Nismo, What do you guys think about this truck. Have any information about this truck?

A: nissan builds a better truck than toyota and only people who have owned them know that i have had 6 and loved them all nissan rocks and it’s not just another toyota

Q: Is it possible to upgrade the trip computer on a 2006 Nissan Frontier SE?
I have a 2006 Nissan Frontier and the trip computer only has “Trip A” and “Trip B” mileage. I was wondering if it would be possible to upgrade the computer so that it also displayed MPG, etc. like the higher models.

A: You would have to replace the instrument cluster and wiring harness, plus the brain for it. A real hassle and extensive knowledge of a Nissan.

Q: how do i remove the factory stereo from a 2004 nissan frontier?
how do i remove the factory stereo from my 2004 nissan frontier?

A: Start by removing the surround from the floor shifter look for two screws near the floor and above the heater controls and pull the plastic face off. Disconnect the air bag switch and light disconnect the 4 way flasher switch. If you turn the key on during the radio job you will set an air bag light and it will flash until you go to nissan to get it reset. Radio is held in with two side brackets and 4 more screws. up to six plugs on the radio back side use a towel to protect the dash and consol when unplugging the radio. Disconnecting the battery before working on the dash is a good idea and not reconnecting the battery until you have the airbag switch plugged back in

Q: I want to install power locks on my 2006 Nissan Frontier?
I have a 2006 Nissan Frontier, and I have no power windows or locks. Right now, I’m hoping to find some kind of kit to install the power locks. Where can I get this kit from? Can I get it from Nissan? Costs?

A: Nissan does not have a retro fit for power locks. Nissan Frontier 2005 had a recall for the door becoming unlatched in a accident. That aftermarket lock actulator is installed by cutting the lock and unlock cable to install aftermarket door lock actulator is just dangerious and then if you break a door latch the technician has to deal with the aftermarket stuff or call in the power lock installer to cut up the lock cable. There is the reason to buy the most loaded car you can for around 50 more a month you would have power locks and windows and upgraded radio. So far I have seen several aftermarket lock and power window installs all seem to work just as long as you only use the power lock keyless entry fob.

Q: Hignbeam indicator light on 2000 nissan frontier not working ?
2000 nissan frontier hign beam indicator light not lit when high beam is on. Removed cluster and replaced bulb with working bulb, still not working when highbeam is engaged. The highbeam works but no indicator light. Fuses are not blown.

A: That’s odd. Have you swapped out the combination switch (lever for the lights, blinkers, etc…) Other than that, I’m not sure.

Q: Whats the Bolt Pattern for a 2003 Nissan Frontier XE Crew Cab Long Bed?
Does anybody know what the Bolt Pattern is for a 2003 Nissan Frontier XE Crew Cab Long Bed?? I’ve seen a lot of different answers and i was just making sure.

A: all the 1st gen xterras and frontiers (pre-2005) use the same bolt pattern

6×5.5″

stock they usually came with 15×7″ wheels with a 5.5″ backspacing (sometimes different, but that’s the most common)

the new xterra and frontier use a 6×4.5″ pattern

Q: Best brand of gas for a 2010 Nissan Frontier?
I would like to know if anyone has a particular brand of gas they have noticed gives better mileage for the Nissan Frontier. The pick-up is running great with no problems but I want to maximize mileage.
Thanks!

A: The type of gas you use isn’t going to affect mileage any substantial amount. However, I would recommend BP gasoline, for other reasons. Its cleaner, and it helps to clean your engine. I worked at a Nissan dealership for a few years and we always put BP gasoline in all of our cars.

Q: Does a 2008 Nissan Frontier have rain gutters?
I have a crew cab 2008 Nissan Frontier and I am looking for a pair of roof racks that will fit. The truck doesn’t have the old fashioned rain gutters but it does have a recessed groove on both sides of the roof to channel water, are these still rain gutters?? If not can someone help me find a rack that will fit.

A: Yes they are,.

Q: How do i program a 2006 Nissan Frontier, Remote?
i have an 06 nissan frontier SE pick up. can some one help with details how to program the new car remote? the dealer wanted to charge me 60 dollars to do it but, i know it can not be that hard.

A: get in the vehicle and lock the doors. Qiuckly insert and remove the key from the ignition cylinder several times until the hazard lights flahs two times, this puts the vehicle in the programming mode and erases all existing remotes from the memory. Reinsert the key back into the cylinder and turn it to the accessory positions (where the dash warning lamps come on) then press one of the buttons on the remote and the hazards will flash again letting you know the signal is received. You will need to reprogram the existing remote, if you are adding one and to do this after the first one is programmed, you unlock and relock the doors with the power lock button and then press a button on the other remote and the hazards will flash again. After you have programmed all the remotes, turn the key off, unlock and open the drivers door and the procedure is completed.

Q: Nissan Titan wheels fit on a Nissan Frontier?
I have a chance to buy a nice set of wheels off of a nissan titan and I am not sure if they will fit my 05 Nissan frontier, does anybody know for sure? Thanks!

A: technically they will fit, bet they will not bolt up. you will need custom spacers. the titan bolt pattern is not the same as the 05 -07 frontier. however, the frontier shares it’s bolt pattern with the 05- current xterra, 05- current pathfinder, and some dodge trucks.

Q: Nissan Frontier?
Alright. For those who speak ‘car and driver’ talk to me! I am a horse trainer. I want truck but, call me girly all you want, i want a smaller truck, or maybe a jeep. I want to be able to have a dog with me on trip maybe two (corgi’s so they are small dogs) so i think four doors is a must but what about torque or whatever for somone who needs to be able to tow a two horse trailer every once and a while? And the engine and gas mileage? Feel free to constructively criticise me. I need opinions of all kinds? Recomendations? Facts please!

A: the Nissan frontier is an excellent choice, its V-6 gives you lots of power and torque about 265 hp and 284 torque for a small truck thats huge. i have the 08 frontier and its gas friendly and has a good look to it. also its back seats are comfortable and give you a smooth ride. but i would recommend you to buy the manual frontier because the automatic gives you a rougher ride, the manual come with 6-speed.

Q: Should I pay ~175 dollars to have my Nissan Frontier drive belts replaced?
I have a 2003 Nissan Frontier – The dealership says it’s ~$155 for the parts (the A/C belt, the alternator belt, power steering) and the rest for labor. Does the total amount ~$175 (including shop fees and tax) sound reasonable?

I am going to ask that the old belts be provided to me after they complete the job. Does anyone else have anything I need to look out for/ask?

A: I have found aftermarket belts to be either to long or just a bit short. Any way if Nissan Does the work it is warrantied for 1 year 12,000 miles. See if you can get Billy Bob at the corner gas station to do it.

Q: nissan frontier xe – How much weight can I carry in the bed AND how much weight can I tow?
nissan frontier xe – How much weight can I carry in the bed AND how much weight can I tow?

If I am going a short distance on flat road, how much weight can I put in the bed AND tow at the same time (maximum)?

Note: I need to move many gallons of water.

A: More information like 2 wheel drive? 4 Wheel Drive? king cab regular cab or crew cab. Automatic or manual trans? All that information is in your owners hand-book. Weight in bed plus trailer weight and tongue weight. Water causes weight to shift be very careful. A fire hydrant and fire hose for when water is close would be much better. Know a Fireman who would come over in the Tanker? 500 gallons will overload trailer and truck.
